Spectrum Super Star May 2025

Congratulations to our May star of the month, Justin Johnson!

Justin volunteers two days a week at the Spectrum Autism Support Center, assisting with gardening, watering plants, weeding and picking up sticks. He brings a cheerful attitude and smile every time he visits and we look forward to seeing him each day he is here. Justin’s mom Elsa said, “Volunteering at Spectrum has been a truly meaningful experience for both Justin and our family. Since aging out of school, opportunities for structure, social interaction, and personal growth have been limited, so this has been a wonderful way for him to stay engaged and feel productive. It gives him a sense of purpose and belonging, and he looks forward to his time there each week. Being able to give back to a place that has offered so much support and acceptance means a lot to us. It’s heartwarming to see Justin build confidence, social connections, and life skills in a safe, encouraging environment. We’re incredibly grateful for the opportunity and for the kindness and patience of everyone at Spectrum who makes him feel so valued.”

We are so grateful for his support. He is making a difference! Spectrum welcomes volunteers and students who want to add to their résumé and/or earn service hours for classes. Contact Claire Dees at claire@Spectrumautism.org if you are interested in volunteering.
