Position Type: Full-Time or Part-Time
Salary Range: $43,000-$57,000
Reports To: Executive Director
Program Focus: Afterschool and enrichment programming for autistic students ages 5-22
Position Summary
The Afterschool Enrichment Program Manager oversees the planning, coordination, and daily operations of enrichment programs designed for autistic students. This role ensures programs are safe, engaging, inclusive, and supportive of social development, creativity, communication, independence, and life skills. The Program Manager supervises staff and volunteers, communicates with families, and helps create meaningful experiences that support each participant’s growth and success.
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Operations
- Plan and manage afterschool enrichment activities, clubs, and some camps.
- Develop structured, engaging, and sensory-considerate programming
- Ensure programs promote friendship-building, confidence, creativity, and skill development
- Maintain program schedules, attendance, participant records, and incident documentation
- Monitor program quality and participant progress
Staff & Volunteer Supervision
- Recruit, train, supervise, and support program staff and volunteers
- Provide coaching on autism support strategies, behavior supports, and inclusion practices
- Create staff schedules and ensure appropriate participant-to-staff ratios
- Foster a positive, respectful, and team-oriented work culture
Family & Community Communication
- Build strong relationships with students, families, schools, and community partners
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding participant needs, successes, and concerns
- Assist with enrollment, orientation, and family support
Student Support
- Support students with social interaction, emotional regulation, communication, and participation
- Implement positive behavior support strategies
- Help create individualized accommodations when needed
- Ensure participant safety and emotional well-being at all times
Administrative Responsibilities
- Assist with budgeting, supply management, and program reporting
- Track outcomes, attendance, and program data
- Support fundraising events and community outreach efforts when needed
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies and safety procedures
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, social work, special education, human services, or related field preferred
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with autistic individuals or individuals with developmental disabilities
- Experience managing programs, staff, or volunteers preferred
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Knowledge of autism supports,sensory needs, and positive behavior strategies
- CPR/First Aid certification required
- Ability to lift, assist, and actively participate in recreational activities as needed

Work Environment
This role includes classroom, community, recreational, and event-based environments. The program will require onsite management, 2-7 pm Monday-Friday, for the Gwinnett school calendar dates as well as some camps offered during summer and school breaks. 30 hour a week minimum with option for up to 40 hours per week which might include oversight of other programs and assisting with community resource table opportunities.

Autism Afterschool Program Support Staff
Position Overview:
The Autism Afterschool Program Support Staff member provides direct supervision, encouragement, and individualized support to children and teens with autism participating in afterschool enrichment activities. Staff help create a safe, inclusive, structured, and engaging environment that promotes social development, communication, independence, creativity, and positive behavior.
This role requires patience, flexibility, teamwork, and a genuine passion for supporting neurodiverse individuals and their families.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support students with autism during afterschool programming and enrichment activities
- Assist participants with social interaction, communication, emotional regulation, and daily living skills as needed
- Implement behavior support strategies and follow individualized support plans
- Encourage participation in recreational, creative, educational, and life skills activities
- Maintain a safe, positive, and sensory-friendly environment
- Support transitions between activities and help maintain daily schedules and routines
- Build respectful and encouraging relationships with participants and families
- Assist with classroom setup, cleanup, supplies, and organization
- Communicate concerns, incidents, or participant progress with supervisors in a timely manner
- Participate in staff trainings, meetings, and ongoing professional development
- Follow all organization policies related to safety, confidentiality, and mandatory reporting
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; college coursework in education, psychology, social work, special education, or related field preferred
- Experience working with individuals with autism or other developmental disabilities preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm, patient, and supportive in challenging situations
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- CPR/First Aid certification
- Must pass background check

- Knowledge of autism spectrum disorder and sensory needs
- Experience with behavior support techniques and de-escalation strategies

Physical Requirements
- Ability to actively supervise participants indoors and outdoors
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds if needed
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and participate in program activities for extended periods
Schedule
Part-time, weekday afternoons (2-7 pm, during Gwinnett County school calendar dates) and occasional special events or school break programs.
