Grandparents have a unique role in the lives of their grandchildren with autism. This group allows grandparents to share the challenge of supporting their children as they parent a child with an autism spectrum disorder. As parents of children with autism vary greatly, so do grandparents. Some are grandparents of a child in another state, and simply want to learn more. Some have monthly or weekly contact with their grandchild, and participate in the group to discuss new questions as they arise. Some live with their grandchildren, and are able to contribute insight and experience as they take on the parental role once again.
All grandparents are welcome to attend!
We are currently in need of a grandparent to facilitate this breakout session. In the interim, grandparents are welcome to choose a breakout group and session that appeals to your interest.
Check the first Thursday or 2nd Thursday meeting schedule and feel free to join either meeting.
Note that this group does not meet on Thursdays during the summer months.
